I know what its like. I have had BBC journos on the phone trying to get me to say Farage is a racist. It does not matter how often you say he is not a racist they keep coming back with different words and angles. Eventually I just put the phone down
They have their agenda and will fly in the face of fact to try and get someone to give a statement to support their agenda. No organisation has a more anti Leave agenda than the Guardian/BBC
