England will probably win the Oval test thanks to the incompetence of the Oz captain.I wrote this in my blog of 25th August. He is their worst captain since Ian Johnson in 1956. Johnson had Miller and Lindwall two of the best fast bowlers that ever played and contrived to lose. England doctored the wickets to suit Laker but Johnson was a liability. that was too much for the rest of the team to overcome.
Johnson was seen as a safe pair of hands as was Paine.Just count how many catches he has dropped. He even did his best to put Steve Smith off as difficult catch by diving in front of him.
The other claimed safe pair of hands was Mrs May who has done her best to screw up Brexit and made things ten times more difficult for BoJo. She was chosen like Paine and Johnson as someone who would not upset the opposition. That hands victory to the other side. What you need is a PM/Captain who does upset the opposition and not give out knighthoods to convicted woman beaters and mediocre civil servants.

You may have decided not to believe him but I think she was a potential bankrupt who acted as a the lady spurned.

The Ile de Re is a very ironically named place to launch a defence of Boycott, if you recall your Yorkshire CC history.
Boycott may or may not have committed the assault but from a purely cricketing point of view I would not have given a knighthood to someone who refused to play for his country for three years.
Paine is not a very good captain, it is true, but he is not quite the worst Aussie captain of the last half century in my view. That would be Yallop.
