Election shows the fault line in British politics

Referendums are a good thing for us the people. Everyone's vote is equal. It is clear on the issue people are voting on  and we do not have politicians arguing after parliamentary elections what people voted for.  Farron and his like want the old discredited system to preserve their parties power and ignore the views of the people. That is not democracy. It is continued rule by the political elite who are feted by the media who live in, and come from, the same swamp as our politicians. Donald Trump has pointed this out many times. Let us hope we stop denigrating him. He is a man to be reckoned with.

Our 650 MPs are selected by small groups of constituency. That is not democracy, it is particracy ie government by parties not people. The EU is a prime  example of this type of government. This was rejected by the British people on 23rd June 2016.

This fundamental has not been accepted by many MPs. As I went in to Yeovil on the local bus last week, something MPs never do, an old lady gave me this intepretation what the letters MP stand for, Money and Power. she said!

Until MPs start representing us and ditch Burke's elitist dictum that their own 'judgement' trumps their constituents views this schism will continue to damage our country. Most of our MPs don't care. All most of them care about is their wallets. I have not forgotten or forgiven the expenses scandal. and I hope the British people remember it as well.

The only way I can see to achieve this is to go for open primaries, the system that was used to select Sarah Woolaston in Totnes over Tory party hacks. It would  take power from political parties and deliver it back to where it belongs with the people
