The evil that men do lives after them, Tony and George

The  complete the quote from Shakespeare's  Julius Caesar goes on ,  ' the good is oft interred with their bones'. This ending is irrelevant in the cases of TB & GO, both of whom did immense damage and little good to our country.

I dealt  part of TB's damage to our country  in my last blog so today I deal with GO who always reminded me of a malevolent spider sitting at the centre of his Tory web.entrapping and manipulating young Tory hopefuls like Matthew Hancock. His idea of the Northern powerhouse was good but he then committed all the cash down South on the money eating HS2  so nothing could happen up North.

Osborne's most enduring offences were the poor quality people he appointed in particular Carney
the EU loving worst Governor of the Bank of England  I can remember. For a BoE governor to make a speech resulting in a sharp fall in Sterling is exactly what BoE governors should never do. As Rees Mogg says he is a political animal who has devalued the great office he holds. Thank goodness he can only serve for 7 years. Carney is the principal saboteur of Brexit.

Osborne also blocked good people getting important jobs.his Paul Tucker, 25 years in the BoE, would have been an excellent apolitical Governor but obviously  he would have been his own man man. For a control freak that would never do.

Osborne supported Madame Lagarde a French Europhile in the Barnier mould to be appointed managing director of the IMF. That appointment was clearly not in the UK's interests and we will pay the price for it. The  should have gone to an non European like the Mexican central bank governor. Osborne could certainly have blocked Lagarde but chose not too.

Its a bit like an appointment to the US supreme court the US president makes. Trump appoints in US interest, Osborne in EU interests. What a handicap our EU loving political and establishment elite is to our country.

There will be many Osborne worms crawling out of the Tory  body politic in the coming years to resurrect Project Fear.
