BoJo vists Sedgefield to rub Tony's nose in it

It is the act of the consummate politician BoJo is to visit the scene of his great Northern victory. He visited Sedgefield first to show Tony that he, BOJO, is now top dog and Tony is history. I hope John Major andHezza also get the message that they are has-beens that no one is in the slightest interested in their carping views.

I hope he pours money into the North and leaves Islington to fend for itself. under Corbyn A bit of money spent up North will produce far greater benefit for the UK than London centred vanity projects like HS2 and will secure us afar more balanced and prosperous country.

When the Palace of Westminster is deemed no longer habitable by our political elite I hope he transfers the seat of Government to somewhere central like Harrogate. That really would unite the nation and might even please Geoffrey Boycott's mother.

Farage does well against AF Neil tonight

Farage showed tonight what a good debater he is. He was only caught out on not knowing the call for second referendum to revokearticle50 had attracted over 5 million votes otherwise it was a very good performance.

Farage's weakness is his poor choice of people. A  Mogg was always aTory who only wanted the MEP title and salary and would jump ship when she had it. I have seen it many times before in UKIP.
It is the PBI who has been conned again into supporting a traitor. Mogg keeps her large MEP salary and expenses. Nice work if you can get it.

Waitrose's poor service

Today I  visited Waitrose in Sherborne. I waited 40 mins for a cup of  coffee which was supposed to be free with my purchase of £40 of groceries. When I complained of this wait I was told to be patient. The regulars simply shrugged their shoulders and said its always like this. I asked  for a complaints form to be told these were only  available on their web site.Given the average age of customers at that shop must be around 75 and not regular users of the web that is not a lot of use. Its just away to fob people off.

ITV do Lib Dems a favour

Swinson is an even bigger electoral liability than Corbyn. Keeping her off the TV leaders debate therefore helped did the Lib Dem's cause. Swinson of course does not see it this way but she is a very stupid woman and proves it every time she opens her mouth. her EU policy is a surefire vote loser. Keeping her off the TV debate must have boosted the LibDem vote just as former Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe not testifying at his trial got him off. It avoided awkward questions

Perhaps the Duke of York could learn that lesson as well.

Those of us who knew Farage in UKIP and were knifed and smeared by him and his associates were not surprised. The leopard does not change his spots but is he any worse than all the other lying politicians?

Farage graciously puts country before party

Farage's graciously delivered decision today to stand down Brexit  MP candidates in Tory held seats is a masterstroke. He can now trumpet his country before party credentials up and down the land. He has turned a negative into a positive put BoJo on the back foot and holed Corbyn and self selected PM elect Swinson below the water line.

He has pit Peterborough and Radnor in jeopardy for Labour and the LibDems, an excellent result.

He can now wrap himself in the Union Jack and attack as unpatriotic  Labour and the LibDems. He has done just what Corbyn and Swinson did not want and made their problems a whole lot bigger.

If he can now scupper Queen Nicola he will rival Machiavelli.as a political operator.and concentrate his forces like Napoleon.

What is the Remain option?

Those calling for a second EU glibly  demand that Remain must be an option in the ballot paper we vote on but what is this option things have changed drastically since we voted on 23rd June 2016. The Lisbon treaty was signed 13th Dec 2007. The full effects of this treaty have not  as yet fully worked their way into UK law but between 23rd June 1916 to date a lot could have happened .

I quote some of the main points affecting the UK as given in Wikepedia

'Prominent changes included the move from unanimity to qualified majority voting in at least 45 policy areas in the Council of Ministers, a change in calculating such a majority to a new double majority, a more powerful European Parliament forming a bicameral legislature alongside the Council of Ministers under the ordinary legislative procedure, a consolidated legal personality for the EU and the creation of a long-term President of the European Council and a High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The Treaty also made the Union's bill of rights, the Charter of Fundamental Rights, legally binding. The Treaty for the first time gave member states the explicit legal right to leave the EU, and established a procedure by which to do so.

This treaty waters down the powers  of national parliaments and increases the power of the Brussels bureaucracy.Its the same old con but it never gets called out by the BBC EU philes who get lots of our dosh from the EU. Something they like to keep quiet about. The  BBC is very hot on exposing  others conflicts  of interests but not on exposing their own. The BBC clearly needs a drastic reform and clear out

So when the elite demand remain must be kept on the table but leave with no deal removed you now know why. It all comes back to money for the elite and blame for us plebs. Please ask your EU phile MP what are we being asked to Remain in the and  how much do they receive from the EU directly or indirectly?

Quo Vadis Mr Farage

To anyone who has dealt his response was perfectly predictable and in my opinion correct if we want to leave the EU. Its which is the greater loyalty party, self or country? For BoJo it is clearly and entirely the former two. with self love dominant. For Farage self love also  dominates but his patriotism exceeds BoJo's, witness his frequent trips to WWI  battlefields. For Farage party matters little. Its only a vehicle for Farage's ambition.

Farage's career can be split into two parts, before Donald and AD after Donald. Before Donald Farage would have been delighted to park his bum on the red leather. But AD things went to Farage's head.He thought he was a real player. Trump spotted this and with a large dollop  of flattery, a speciality of the House, Farage was Trump's poodle.

Farage has become like a fading Hollywood star, trapped in his own publicity from which he cannot escape. BoJo will reel him in and hang him out to dry. A pity, Nigel could have been a contender but his ego got too big like a Shakespearean tragic hero or perhaps like Icarus he flew too near the Sun King, Donald

Why did these poor Vietnamese choose to try and enter the UK?

It is absolutely horrific how these poor Vietnamese died in the back of that lorry trailer in Essex but why were they there? It seems some may have had relatives in the UK but if you look at a world globe you will see a large country called Australia due South of Vietnam and much closer to Vietnam than Essex. Oz also has a large Vietnamese population in Sydney and Melbourne where these unfortunate people might well have had relatives so why choose a longer more difficult journey to Essex?

The answer must be that Australian immigration has a well deserved reputation for rigorous application of its strict but just immigration rules that prioritize Australia's needs .or as Donald might say Australia first. The UK is still seen as a  soft  touch a view encouraged by the bien pensants of the BBC. That is a large part of the reason they try to get into the UK and it will continue until the BBC changes its liberal elite stupidity they broadcast to the whole world. They bear a large responsibility  for encouraging would be migrants undertaking these dangerous journeys.The  BBC which is like Mary Poppins practically perfect in every way will never admit their failings.

What's in a Politician's name?

Our leading politicians however do not seem to agree with Shakespeare on this subject judging by their choices  of  name not only their policies but also themselves.

When I first worked with Heath Secretary Hancock, I and others in the BoE, called him Matthew. He then got involved with George Osborne and became the much more man of the people Matt Hancock. His then boss Osborne had been initially called Gideon but he thought this sounded too posh for an  aspiring man of the people and changed his name to the more plebian George.

Then there is white van woman Thornberry who can be Lady Nugee, wife of high court judge Nugee when it suits her. no James Kavanagh or Martha Costello she.

Finally Mrs Balls springs to mind who uses her maiden name Cooper. Personally I prefer the US female nomenclature of double barreled names like Evert Lloyd which makes clear her married relationship.  Its sometimes helpful to know who our politicians are related to.and what social class they come from.

Extend now looks like the best option

It now appears Dominic does not have a cunning plan. Its time for hard pounding, patience and wait and agitate for a General Election. Boris's  new treaty is a bad one for the UK but we should not get bored into accepting a bad deal.  We have to play a long patient game. A General Election will come.

UK Politicians are poor in this type of scenario. Take a leaf from  the Chinese and think of future generations  and don't act for transitory short term gains.

Dominic's cunning plan

I write on Thursday 17 Oct at10:30pm after Boris's great new deal which will of course be rejected by our useless MPs on Saturday. Juncker fell into Dom's trap methinks. Juncker is now on record saying there will be no extension past Halloween. Benn's surrender Act is satisfied and expired.  Boris has kept his promise.

After Saturday we will fall back on the pre-existing  no deal EU law. A great result  and victory for Dom/Boris and our country. We can then square the DUP at  leisure, consign Benn to the loony bin and watch our useless MPs hang themselves.

Short term partisan interest is all our dishonest MPs consider

This manifests itself right now as the sheep bleating for a second referendum. They did not like the result of the one held on  23 June 2016 when in the biggst turnout ever 17.4 million of us voted to leave the EU and 16.1 million voted to remain. This vote to leave has never been implemented by our remain dominated Parliament and Government  who think they know best and the people are thick. So in the traditions of the EU make us vote again to deliver the EU approved answer.That is the EU version of non-democracy that the anti democratic Lib Dems love.

There .was another referendum in 2014 in Scotland on whether the Scots should stay or leave the UK. The result was 2.0 million for stay and 1.62 million for leave. The leader of  leave campaign, Alec Salmond immediately accepted the result . In the 2016 UK election the remainer dominated Goverment of  T  May  said they respected the vote but immediately started y campaign to reverse it.

There you have the difference. Alec Salmond behaved honorably while Theresa May behaved dishonorably. Her dishonest behavior set an example for Nicola Sturgeon who can and will now campaign for another  referendum in Scotland. Dishonorable politicians have to live with the consequences of their duplicity but unfortunately so do we the plebs.

Those who support  delay will go to the bottom of the queue. Earlier today, I sent a message to a contact in Number 10 asking them how the Brexit talks were going. They sent a long reply which I think gives a pretty clear sense of where they think things are.

So, in the interest of trying to let people understand where Number 10 reckon the negotiations are, here is their response:

‘The negotiations will probably end this week. Varadkar doesn’t want to negotiate. Varadkar was keen on talking before the Benn Act when he thought that the choice would be ‘new deal or no deal’. Since the Benn Act passed he has gone very cold and in the last week the official channels and the backchannels have also gone cold. Varadkar has also gone back on his commitments — he said if we moved on manufactured goods then he would also move but instead he just attacked us publicly. It’s clear he wants to gamble on a second referendum and that he’s encouraging Barnier to stick to the line that the UK cannot leave the EU without leaving Northern Ireland behind.

There are quite a few people in Paris and Berlin who would like to discuss our offer but Merkel and Macron won’t push Barnier unless Ireland says it wants to negotiate. Those who think Merkel will help us are deluded. As things stand, Dublin will do nothing, hoping we offer more, then at the end of this week they may say ‘OK, let’s do a Northern Ireland only backstop with a time limit’, which is what various players have been hinting at, then we’ll say No, and that will probably be the end.

Varadkar thinks that either there will be a referendum or we win a majority but we will just put this offer back on the table so he thinks he can’t lose by refusing to compromise now. Given his assumptions, Varadkar’s behaviour is arguably rational but his assumptions are, I think, false. Ireland and Brussels listen to all the people who lost the referendum, they don’t listen to those who won the referendum and they don’t understand the electoral dynamics here.

If this deal dies in the next few days, then it won’t be revived. To marginalise the Brexit Party, we will have to fight the election on the basis of ‘no more delays, get Brexit done immediately’. They thought that if May went then Brexit would get softer. It seems few have learned from this mistake. They think we’re bluffing and there’s nothing we can do about that, not least given the way May and Hammond constantly talked tough then folded.

So, if talks go nowhere this week, the next phase will require us to set out our view on the Surrender Act. The Act imposes narrow duties. Our legal advice is clear that we can do all sorts of things to scupper delay which for obvious reasons we aren’t going into details about. Different lawyers see the “frustration principle” very differently especially on a case like this where there is no precedent for primary legislation directing how the PM conducts international discussions.

We will make clear privately and publicly that countries which oppose delay will go the front of the queue for future cooperation — cooperation on things both within and outside EU competences. Those who support  delay will go to the bottom of the queue. We will also make clear that this government will not negotiate further so any delay would be totally pointless.  They think now that if there is another delay we will keep coming back with new proposals. This won’t happen. We’ll either leave with no deal on 31 October or there will be an election and then we will leave with no deal.

‘When they say ‘so what is the point of delay?’, we will say “This is not our delay, the government is not asking for a delay — Parliament is sending you a letter and Parliament is asking for a delay but official government policy remains that delay is an atrocious idea that everyone should dismiss. Any delay will in effect be negotiated between you, Parliament, and the courts — we will wash our hands of it, we won’t engage in further talks, we obviously won’t given any undertakings about cooperative behaviour, everything to do with ‘duty of sincere cooperation’ will be in the toilet, we will focus on winning the election on a manifesto of immediately revoking the entire EU legal order without further talks, and then we will leave. Those who supported delay will face the inevitable consequences of being seen to interfere in domestic politics in a deeply unpopular way by colluding with a Parliament that is as popular as the clap.

Those who pushed the Benn Act intended to sabotage a deal and they’ve probably succeeded. So the main effect of it will probably be to help us win an election by uniting the leave vote and then a no deal Brexit. History is full of such ironies and tragedies.’

Now, this is—obviously—only one side of the negotiations view of things. It does, though, make clear Downing Street’s pessimism about getting a deal this week and its thinking about how to handle the coming extension and election campaign

There can never be a good Brexit deal for the UK

The economic arguments show how good a  Brexit is for the UK and that is exactly why the EU will never agree anything but a terrible punishment deal for us. Call them our  friends as much as you like but the realpolitik is the EU has to crush us pour encourager les autres and for their sacred Union to become the world power their new Napoleon and Hitler want. Rational economic arguments do not matter in this power game.

All talk of getting a better deal or close and special relationship is a fairy tale for the gullible and Mrs May.

160 years ago the US had civil war with 1.26 million killled. Most UK citizens people think this war was fought to free the slaves.This is to use Bercow's word utter bollocks. Abe Lincoln fought that war to preserve the Union. Even the  Lib Dem crap on human rights sacrificed to preserve the EU For Abe and for the EU fuehrers it is realpolitk pure and simple.

Donald tells the truth when he says America first. Our BBC London political elite are however strangers to the truth.

No deal is thus clearly the best deal for us. Anything else is just a rigged deck where we can only lose..

Farage has lost his way

That was the lasting impression I had after listening to him on LBC tonight. He clearly has no idea.what to do next to counter Boris who is preparing to sell us down the river next weekend. We are all now in Boris's hands.

Farage will try to stand for the 8th time as an MP and will be rejected yet again. Farage has already filled up the Brexit party with his place men ensuring no one else can oppose him. The Brexit party composed as it is of Farage sycophants will fail as UKIP failed and for the same reasons. Its a Farage cult vehicle and will never win seats in a UK general election. So unless some true patriot emerges like some Wagnerian hero we will end up as EU German slaves. A sad prospect for our children.

What is wrong with trading on WTO terms?

Can  someone please explain to  what disaster will befall us if we leave with no deal which is the lazy BBC code for leaving on WTO terms. Will it be a biblical plague? How is keeping a hold of our own money, laws fish a disaster? Its  a clear win for us the people,. It may be a disaster for our well heeled political elite but that must be good for our country. Its high time trite phrases the Remainers repeat ad nauseum were challenged.

As for our shrinking violet female MPS they should have heard the abuse I had from the LIbDem women of Somerset when canvassing for Leave. I wish I had their problems. No one forces them to be MPs

Don't talk of the Benn bill, its a Surrender Act pure and simple.and  should be seen in the same light as Chamberlain's 1938 bit of paper.

Remain can be reinterpreted by the ECJ/EU post a UK revoke

The assumption in the Remain position is that we can return to pre-referendum terms. Have the EU ever said that? Can we trust them? Three years on from the referendum things have changed a great deal. We have a new EU commission president who wants far more integration, and an EU army. Who will that army swear allegiance to? Who will command it?  Who will it answer to? Where will it be based? Will it have troops garrisoned in our cities? Can it be used against recalcitrant member states the EU commission is having problems with?

Remain is con. It is meaningless term or as the political elite say, a unicorn. We cannot turn the clock back. As the Bible says we have set our hand to the plough and we must go on or be forever German slaves. The Fourth Reich is on the march with VDL in the lead tank.

Doing what your opposition does not want is a good guide you are getting it right. The more the EU whinges on about wanting to see the UK position the more we know we are getting it right
