Ashes shows importance of having a good captain

The first Ashes series I  remember watching on our old 12 ins black and white TV was in 1956 when England won the series but lost at Lords. The Oz captain Johnson was not worth his place in the side.Keith Miller should have been captain but he was a bit too much for the Oz selectors who wanted a yes man and no trouble on tour.

Roll on 65 years and the Aussies off the  of the sandpaper incident   have again picked a duff captain who consistently gets the reviews wrong,  scores few runs and drops many catches. I have never seen an Oz side drop as many catches as this current side.

It all reminds me of Mrs May advertised as a safe pair of hands by the sycophant Hancock.

BoJo so far has picked a good team. Let us hope they hold their catches.
