How many seats are UKIP expected to win on Thursday?

As always I turned to the people who are usually right, the bookies. Only one, Ladbrokes are making a book on UKIP and neither Ladbrokes or any other firm are making a book on LIbLabCon seat total. It's hardly an active market compared to Eastleigh.

Ladbroke's UKIP odds were 11/4 less than 50 seats, 11/4 50 to 100, 11/4 over 100.  These are niggardly odds and imply a profit margin of 20% to Ladbrokes. On the flat horse races bookies margins are typically 8% to !0%. Gudo Fawkes today writes he expects UKIP to win 50 seats and the Plymouth politics dept goes for 40. Either of these outcomes are good results for UKIP particulary if they win 4 or so seats on a split council.

On the share of the vote the BBC quote Labour 37.5%, Tory 28.5% , LibDem 15.5%. UKIP is not quoted by the Beeb an indication of their support for the status quo, however adding up the three percentages above, aubtracting from 100 gives 18.5% for UKIP and others. That looks to me like UKIP are at LibDem share of 15.5%. Because of their excellent organisation particularly of postal votes and geographic concentration in areas like the West Country I expect the LibDems will do much better than UKIP in terms of seats.

That is the penalty UKIP pay for Farage's long term neglect of simple party electoral matters. I saw Crowther yesterday  on the Daily Politics where he was clearly operating in damage limitation mode with no positive message. It continued this evening where the Tories have targetted and smeared one of UKIP's juvenile candidates in Castle Cary. UKIP wheeled out N Hamilton to defend the poor lad. What   a message to send to the electorate who have not forgotten Hamilton's past and defeat by the man in the white suit.

Putting it all together I am hopeful UKIP will win around 40 seats which in my opinion will be a good result given the shambolic campaign they have run.

Farage's EUKIP is pissing away our best chance to exit the EU

On Saturday I read a two  page spread in the Daily Mail opposite their leader column by Robin Page on what goes on in local authorities headlined "Democracy don't make me laugh". I recommend reading it. Robin has been elected as an independent on South Cambridge District Council for many years. He really takes the lid off the LibLabCon  abuse of the system for their own ends. read it by clicking http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2315521/Democracy-Dont-make-laugh-This-really-goes-Town-Hall.html

It is a great piece aimed at Thursday's local elections. Don't you wish UKIP had somebody like this to front up their local election campaign? Well they could have but Farage vetoed his going on the Eastern  region UKIP MEP slate despite Del, David and my own protests. It left the field clear for Farage's favoured candidates Bannerman and Agnew. Well we all know what Bannerman did but has Agnew done anything at all?

It sums up why Farage is a UKIP leadership disaster. His chosen appointees to run the party Duffy, Reeve are in charge of candidate selection and training, Crowther is in overall charge of running the party. They must take responsibility for the omnishambles that is EUKIP's local election campaign. UKIP has had many more able people in these roles before but they have died or been sent into exile by Farage to leave UKIP with his sycophants just as Robin Page was exiled.

I have no doubt UKIP will win a lot of votes on Thursday not because they have fought any sort of campaign but simply because the electorate want to give LibLabCon a good kicking. As Warren Buffet often points out a rising tide lifts all boats but its when the tide goes out you can see who has been swimming naked. UKIP is currently benefitting from the flood tide but what will happen when the tide turns. I am less certain they will win many seats. Converting votes into seats needs a proper party machine and management. Nigel and his sycophants don't do organisation. They prefer the fickle flattery of BBC TV that well known Europhile organisation and its nice pre show green room.

Farage's bosum buddy Bloom has been doing his best to torpedo the campaign with his views on working women of child bearing age and his comments on UKIP's policy vacuum. Who needs political enemies when Godders is around. When the solids hit the fan this weekend Nuttall, another Farage protegy was wheeled out to defend the indefensible on TV whilst the Farage kept his head down in the Fuerher Bunker. All Nuttall could do was to blame the nasty Tories for digging up the dirt on dodgy UKIP candidates. Well Mr Nuttall its you and your boss who are responsible for selecting these candidates. If you had done your job and selected and checked out candidates properly there would have been a lot less dirt for the Tories to find!

This will I fear be UKIP's high water mark gaining only a small number of seats. It could have been so much more and given us a real stepping stone into Westminster. The opportunity will have been wasted and may not ever come again.

Farage's EUKIP pigeons start coming home to roost

It was entirely predictable that if UKIP ever got into a position that threatened the established parties electoral base then UKIP would come under proper scrutiny and Farage's glib smart answers would be examined and not accepted. This is now coming about as UKIP make progress in the polls. It is the reason that when I was on UKIP's NEC I, Del and David  fought for a thorough clean up of its finances, policies and most important governance. We have to be able to show we stick to the rules, ours and electoral rules. This got trashed by the sycophants who merely wanted to endorse every thing Farage did or said and brown nose their way onto MEP slates and hence the EU gravy train.

Let us start with the basics. How many candidates is UKIP standing this Thursday in the County Council elections? Yesterday's Guardian says 1217, Farage sycophants claim 1700+ whilst I seem to recollect the great man himself claiming 1850. It remind me of the great scene in the film Mamchurian Candidate, original version where Johnny Iselin a mouthpiece US senator running for the VP ticket under the control of his Lady MacBeth wife Eleanor, has difficulty in remembering his various numerical claims for the 'number of card carrying Communists' in the US Defence Dept. He pleads with his wife over breakfast just to give him one simple number he can remember. She glances at the tomato sauce bottle on the table and says OK Johnny there are exactly 57 card carrying commies in the US Defence Dept!

UKIP has to have by electoral law a nominating officer who countersigns all  a parties candidates nomination forms. This is I believe Mr Reeve who is I believe Ms Duffy's parntner but I am happy to be corrected on this point. Probably the signing has been devolved to a local level but still the parties nominating officer should know how many candidates a party is putting up. So how many is it Mr UKIP nominating officer?

This is a recurring problem for Farage. Giving glib answers is one thing, remembering them is quite another. I once saw a Farage type politician destroyed by a very bright businessman thus. The politician gave a long bullshit self contradictory answer to the businessman's question. After he had finished the businessman asked him to repeat his answer. Mr charisma politician could not and drowned in a sea of his own waffle.

On QT last Thursday Simon Hughes the Lib Dem deputy leader caught our Nigel on the hop about what exactly UKIP's personal tax policy was. Farage's answer was not only unconvincing but gave some dangerous hostages to fortune. Now we have Bloom, that avid supporter of women's equality, reported in yesterday's Guardian and today's Observer letting the cat out of the bag on EUKIP's almost complete lack of policies and even suggesting buying in thought out policies fro right wing think tanks. Farage's EUKIP does not do thinking only drinking!

Ken Clarke was attacking UKIP on this morning's Sky TV. This is not a bad thing after all all publicity is good publicity for UKIP at least for the time being but UKIP has to show it can come up with some serious answers. Farage sound bites won't do now. That's a big problem for EUKIP that have existed exclusively on Farage's dodgy factually unsupported glib answers to bored and uninformed journos.

Candidate selection is also a mess. Former members of the extreme right BNP, NF, EDL etc are now all UKIP candidates on 2nd May. As Bloom says

"We are also attracting new members who bring main party 'baggage'. Focus groups, quotas, even political correctness."

I made this point four years ago about Bannerman's rehashed Tory promises as UKIP policies. Alan Sked was right. UKIP has to be unique in its policies and not a repository for right wing fruit cakes and loonies with hobby horses to gallop like holocaust denial.

Am I upset about this? You bet I am. I have never been a member of any other political party. I have always supported UKIP policies such as they were. I broke EUKIP's unwritten rule, thou shalt not criticise Nigel Farage. I have never been given an explanation of any sort why this debars me from UKIP.

I have just watched Nuttall come off third best to Andrew Neil and Caroline Lucas on dodgy UKIP candidates and policy vacuum. Oh dear!

The Tories are now picking up on the fact that Farage is in it for his own financial gain. Click to read

I leave you with their headline:

You're only in it for yourself, Nigel

The cause of the crisis in A&E

The root cause is the misguided Blair commisioned Wanless report which massively increased GP incomes and drastically reduced their workload in particular relieving them of their previous obligation to provide out of hours cover for their patients. In effect they now work 9 to 5 for 5 days a week. If a patient becomes ill out of these hours they have two choices. Either go through the tortuous and convoluted NHS direct with its numerous delays or pitch up at their local A&E. Even if they fall ill Mon to Fri 9 to 5 there is no guarantee their GP will see them and they can still be referred to the useless NHS direct. Small wonder patients vote with their feet and go to A&E.

Wanless, knighted by Tony and  now deceased managed to cock up everything he touched. I quote from the Independent,

Although as the youngest chief executive in NatWest's history he had presided over a wave of changes, including a more professional approach to management, his had was on the tiller when losses of £90m were unearthed, and proposed mergers with Abbey National and Legal & General came to naught. This forced the share price down and allowed Fred Goodwin's RBS to table a hostile takeover bid, which eventually prevailed. All this contributed to Wanless's removal in 1999.
A year later he was a non-executive director of Northern Rock, the building society-turned-bank, and head of the audit and risk committee at the time of its collapse, leaving it owing the Bank of England £24 billion after misjudgments in the derivatives market. Following an investigation by the Commons Treasury Select Committee Wanless, as one of the most experienced bankers on the Northern Rock board, was singled out for heavy criticism, accused of failing to ensure that the bank "remained liquid as well as solvent, to provide against the risks that it was taking and to act as an effective restraining force on the strategy of the executive members".

So if he had not been the worst CEO ever of Nat West, Fred Goodwin's RBS would never have been able to take it over given it was three times the size of RBS. So no Wanless there would have been no RBS bust which the UK taxpayer is still paying for and will probably never see their money back.

The TSC document the starring part he played in another great British bank scandal , Northern Rock . That only leaves Lloyds TSB and HBOS which he did not contribute to!

His most damaging contribution to our country was his recommendation seized upon by Tony on GP's pay and hours. He in fact produced a system that paid the average, mediocre GP more than the average more highly qualified and certainly harder working hospital consultant. It is hospital consultants who deliver health care in the UK. They do the surgery, they do the invasive procedures, they handle the difiicult drug regimes in short they do the heavy lifting.

What really worries me is that it is GPs who are now to be put in charge of the NHS. It is a clear conflict of interest. For all the cries about privatising the NHS it has been privatised since its inception. GPs are private businessmen not NHS employees. Financial scandals are sure to follow this decision to put the contractors in charge of the contracts!

Shock, horror, Farage visits lap dancing club.

This astounding confession was made to JoCo on Beeb TV today, click to watch the full confession
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-22280755

This follows on Farage's stellar performance on a C4 news jolly visiting Bulgaria, click to watch
http://www.channel4.com/news/nigel-farage-ukip-immigration-bulgaria-romania-video

Great stuff. I caught the end of C4 7pm News tonight and there was a discusion from Portsmouth or Southampton of the imminent Romanian - Bulgarin  influx to the UK on 1/1/2014. The usual collection Tory, Labour and Lib Dem MPs had been assembled plus some carefully chosen vox pops. The liberal elite seem all over the media.

Who spoke for UKIP? Gerard Batten UKIP MEP for London. Why not the South East MEP the region the city is in? Ah well that would be Nigel Farage. Now immigration is a hot topic with lots of votes in it. That's why LibLabCon put out such a strong team including John Denman. A politician serious about winning would have been there. So where was Nigel? His actions show him up as a dilettante.

Farage hubris growing

As we know Nige has had a nice little earner of a trip to Bulgaria courtesy of C4. Click to watch  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qH7TEQZR2Rc

So where did you come from with that funny name, Mr Farage asked the tough lady interviewer. Wow, that's one in the gonads. Farage seemed to be saying he comes from Huguenot stock. That's one I have not heard before.

Today Guido also reports Farage shooting off his mouth off to the press,

Farage Confirms Hancock By-Election Plan

"A month ago in his Sun column Guido revealed that UKIP are already up and running on the ground in Portsmouth South in anticipation that self-confessed teen fondler Mike Hancock will be forced out, triggering a by-election. Today Farage has confirmed he is predicting a by-election this summer, telling a press gallery lunch that he thinks UKIP will win. Dave will note the several Tory MPs quaffing Merlot with the hack pack as Farage confessed he had been a frequenter of lap-dancing establishments, laid into Leveson and endorsed Gove for PM."

Well last time I looked Hancock was still MP for Portsmouth South but maybe Mr F has had a tip off from Cleggie.

UKIP have one big problem, who to choose as candidate. Mrs James types don't grow on trees.

Will Farage himself stand? We must wait and see but Farage chould remember that after hubris comes nemesis. Still his luck may be in again as tonight it is tweeted by Cathy Newman the Met are launching a formal investigation into LibDem Rennard.

Privatise the BBC for a balanced and fair EU debate. I agree with Farage

I tried to put an e-petition on the Downing Street website demanding a bill to privatise the BBC only to find someone had beaten me to it by two weeks. I urge everyone to sign this petition any way click on http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48101 to read it and sign up. I tried to put this on Butcher's forum only to be attcked by the Farage trolls that live there for handing more power to Murdoch and a load of crap about our need for a national broadcaster. We have three excellent non-BBC free services, C4, ITV and Sky so why pay for a fourth. Cricket coverage improved hugely when C4 took it over from the BBC and has continued to improve under Sky. ITV covers the Indian Premier League excellently. C4 has covered Horse Racing so well it now it will cover even Royal Ascot with Balding jumping ship from the Beeb. ITV has left the Beeb well behind in the drama field with Downton Abbey and Broadchurch.

There has never been any complaints of editorial bias at C4, ITV or Sky whereas every week there are complaints of BBC bias.

The BBC excels in one field self praise for its own brilliance. It shows non stop adverts to support its self promotion. It is like a fading Hollywood star, believing its own publicity.

Murdoch is a mortal man and will die one day like us all. The BBC is a self perpetuating liberal left immortal elite. Murdoch's companies are subject to the discipline of the market place. The BBC is answerable to no one. Its chairman Patten is the high priest of liberal left elitism. It gets its money from a government tax called a licence fee. It is not subject to market discipline and can never be controlled.

The BBC is now interfering in the EU debate on the Europhile side. It is making the news not reporting it. It commissioned opinion polls in Bulgaria and Romania as to who wants to come to the UK. Farage was righly incensed by this blatant attempt by the Beeb to influence the EU debate. Click http://www.democracyforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=122532  to read Farage's excellent comments.

I have always fully supported UKIP policy as articulated by Nigel Farage. My differences relate to his ignoring UKIP rules to push Andreasen etc onto UKIP slates. This still continues with alleagtions that Hamilton has been promised no one spot in the South West and Gaunt the same spot in the West Midlands. Junius reports, "We also note that Farage has promised to 'purge' his MEP lists of 'undesirable' candidates prior to the lists being published. Gerard Batten is one of those now regarded by Farage as an 'undesirable'"

The problem is those whom Farage regards as desirable, Neil Hamilton a failed politician, John Gaunt a radio personality etc. How are these characters going to get us out of theEU.  Farage's track record on choosing good MEPs is not good including Andreasen and Bannerman to name but two.

MEPs should be chosen by UKIP members in a Electoral Reform Services ballot. Like me their loyalty is to UKIP and its crusade to get us out of the EU not the fickle applause of the media.

Boston & MEP slates

Thank goodness an alert citizen's tip off led to the capture of the second terrorist bomber in Boston. It was excellent he was taken injured but alive after a fire fight. I have always been puzzled why British police shoot outs end up with such a high percentage of dead suspects. Are they better shots than the Yanks? I doubt it especially given  the US gun culture. In military ops for every fatality you get 9 wounded. UK police statistics seem to be the reverse of this. The only reason I can think of is UK police are using soft nosed bullets. The increased potency of such ammo was shown in the Day of the Jackal when his last shot with a mercury tipped bullet totally destroyed his target melon. Such ammunition is illegal for military use under the Geneva convention. I would be very happy to be contradicted in my thoughts on this matter.

A Neil had a go at Hilary Benn today on the manipulation of Labour MEP slates by the union Barons. Benn did say that the final positions on the slate will be determined by a vote of ordinary Labour members. You won't get that in UKIP as Farage will choose the regional slates and the candidate order therein. It will of course be presented as an NEC decision but surely only the feeble minded will believe that canard. So if you want party democracy don't join UKIP join Labour.

Slimey Obama & spiteful UKIP

The published list of guests who were at Thatcher's funeral shows a surprising omission. There was no Obama or anyone from his administration. My mother always said there are good and bad of all colours and races and Obama is one of the bad guys. He has traded on his black skin for electoral advantage. He traded on the Gulf Deepwater Horizon disaster in which 11 people died to smear our country calling BP, British Petroleum with emphasis on the British for sordid US electoral reasons. He is no statesman and dishonours the great office he holds.

From Wikepedia:

Piper Alpha was a North Sea oil production platform operated by Occidental Petroleum (Caledonia) Ltd.[1] The platform began production in 1976,[2] first as an oil platform and then later converted to gas production. An explosion and the resulting oil and gas fires destroyed it on 6 July 1988, killing 167 men,[3] with only 61 survivors. The death toll includes two crewmen of a rescue vessel.[4] Total insured loss was about £1.7 billion (US$3.4 billion). At the time of the disaster, the platform accounted for approximately ten percent ofNorth Sea oil and gas production, and was the worst offshore oil disaster in terms of lives lost and industry impact.[5]

Thatcher, our PM at the time, treated it for what it was a disatrous accident  She never played the national card like the sordid Obama. She rose above the making of political capital from a tragic loss of life. Why on earth was Obama given the Nobel peace prize. He had done nothing to merit when awarded and since the award has done nothing to promote peace unless you include keeping the war in Afghanistan going.

I do hope the FCO and MOD have noted this Obama snub. He is clearly lining up to support the Argentinians in their Falklands claim for his usual reason domestic US electoral politics. He wants to curry favour with the 80 million plus Hispanics who are now US voters. We need to strengthen the Falklands garrison now and keep two of our nuclear subs close to these islands.

I received the following email originating from Crowther's payments company.

Dear Dr Edmonds

Just to confirm that £15 has been refunded to your card (details below) as instructed by David Challice (Head Office Manager)

If you need to contact him please use mail@ukip.org or telephone number 01626 831290.

UKIP Head Office

Challice is Crowther's clerk in UKIP head office.

When following Audrey Spencer's death I was asked by Yeovil branch to stand as UKIP candidate in the ward I live in, and stood in last time, I pointed out that I was no longer a member of UKIP but out of my admiration for Audrey I would try and rejoin so I could stand as their candidate. EUKIP's subsequent spiteful actions shows exactly the sort of people Farage and Crowther are. They are not interested in getting us out of the EU only in keeping the EU gravy flowing in their direction. To win votes in any election you need candidates on the ballot paper. This elementary fact seems to have escaped Crowther and Farage. Their hatred of me shows where their true interests are.  I have always supported UKIP policy 100%.

Two funerals and a Farage tale

I could not attend the St Pauls do today as I had previously agreed to attend Audrey Spencer's funeral at the Chard Baptist Church. Its a lovely church built along Scottish/New England lines. The funeral was well attended, over 200 I estimate with UKIP Yeovil branch well represented. It was good talking with these great supporters of the cause although one lady UKIPer confessed she had kissed Nigel Farage at a Taunton photo op. That was  over a week ago and Farage still has not turned into a Prince but obstinately remains a frog.

The BBC are having a field day setting up Farage's chosen candidates and letting them hang themselves and UKIP on live TV. Two of Yeovil UKIP branch decscribed Mr Collins performanc on Sunday Politics West as cringe makingly awful. You are going to see a lot more of this type of set up with equally unflattering photos. Its not Mr Collins fault. UKIP have never bothered to set up proper candidate training weekends. If you support Nigel you're in is how it works.

Worse it seems that Lisa Duffy is in charge of UKIP candidate selection and training. It is reported she was on Any Questions last Friday and did not do well to say the least according to UKIP stalwarts I met today. Ms Duffy is of course a devoted and unquestioning follower of Mr Farage.

Another UKIP candidate, Ken Bell, that's him on the right below with Froggie Farage,

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage and Ken Bell

has had to stand down as a candidate in Pendle, that is big witch country, following the publication of emails in which it is alleged he insulted women and also Mrs Thatcher. Again we are gratefuk to the BBC for this information. Click on http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-22149897
to read the full details.

Junius click on http://www.juniusonukip.blogspot.co.uk/ for a UKIP take on Mr Bell.

It is alleged there were some nasty tweets involved, a UKIP speciality.

Who will be the BBC's next target. I have forwarded my complaint to D Laws MP with a request to put it to the chairperson of the Media and Culture select committee but as always I am not  hopeful.

BBC invokes its human rights

As I reported I wrote to the BBC just over a month ago requesting summary statistics of their QT audience. This followed the stitch up of UKIP's Diane James post Eastleigh. It is even moe relevant now where for the post Thatcher QT the BBC assembled an audience dominated by those who had  not been born when Mrs T left office in 1991 stabbed in the back by the Europhiles like Clarke.

I have had to print and scan in the BBC answer to my FOI request as I refuse to pay £50 for a pdf package that will cut and paste pdf documents so it may be a bit diificult to read.

The salient point is that claim their, human rights might be infringed if they released this data. Given what they have just done in North Korea using 12 innocent students as human shields for their sordid jounalism I find it to sick making for words. They could have got these students banged up for 20 years!

The damage they have done to serious academic work is incalculable. I hope the President of the Royal Society makes this point very sharply to the DG and fat Patten. They prattle on about their need for absolute editorial control. I dare say Kim's propaganda people peddle a similar line. Heads should roll for this. Its as bad as Millie Dowler.

The BBC is an organisation out of control and our need for it has long since passed. If I can get through the Downing Street web site I will try and set up a petition calling for the BBC to be privatised. It would save all 30 mn of us licence payers £146.50 pa. That's over £4 bn and would boost the economy  no end. We have Sky, CNN, C4 and ITV all of whom provide an excellent
news service.

Farage's mouthpiece Crowther says No to my candidacy

That was the message I got from my local UKIP branch who wanted me to stand in the County Elections following the sad death of Audrey Spencer. Crowther was the UKIP apparatchik who managed to screw up UKIP candidate entry for the London Assembly elections ballot paper. He has also installed as SW regional organiser Jim Carver. Does he also share Crowther's fantastic political organisational  skills?

I have seen this all before when on UKIP's NEC. There was an excellent candidate available for the Eastern region, Robin Page. He had and still has a high media profile thanks to his regular Saturday column on country matters in the Saturday Telegraph. He is also an elected member on the board of the National Trust. He was not allowed onto the Eastern region slate by Farage on a technicality arising fro his being in hospital at the time. He would of course have won the members vote hands down and we might have been spared Tory defector Bannerman and/or the wealthy Agnew. Many UKIP members have asked for Bannerman to publish a copy of his birth certificate to clarify doubts about the Campbell Bannerman part. The former Liberal PM of that name died without issue and was not born with that nam. He took it to gain an inheritance. He appears to have been the one and only Campbell Bannerman. Perhaps Tory central office may consider asking the same question. Politics is about doing your homework.

Bannerman and Agnew were at that time useful to Farage. Bannerman was put in charge by Farge of framing the charges against me for the EUKIP kangaroo court I was 'tried' in.

Then of course there was the other Tory defector Andreasen who failed 5 or 6 of the UKIP criteria to be on the UKIP MEP slate but these were ignored by Farage's useful Apparatchik Gill who was in charge of candidate selection and said, "I was trying to be helpful" . Who were you trying to help Mr Gill. It certainly has not proved helpful to UKIP.

Coming up to date there is the candidature of Mr Heale to consider. A former NF Hammersnith organiser, Martyn Heale is standing as a UKIP candidate in the Kent County Council Elections for Ramsgate on May 2, 2013. He also holds the office of UKIP chairman for South Thanet.
Click on http://politicsuk.eu/ex-national-front-candidate-to-stand-for-ukip/ to read a full account of the affair.

This becomes even stranger if you look at UKIP party rules http://www.ukip.org/page/terms-and-conditions-of-membership

There it states:

The Party Secretary has the right to suspend or expel members who clearly bring the Party into disrepute by association with or membership of an organisation, membership of which the NEC has declared to be incompatible with membership of the Party.

Membership is not available to anyone who is or has previously been a member of the British National Party, National Front, British Freedom Party, British People's Party, English Defence League, Britain First or the UK First Party. Any applications made from people who are or have been members of these organisations will be refused, and any subscriptions collected will be refunded. By applying for membership you certify that you are not and have never been a member of any of these parties.

So why on earth is Mr Heale allowed to stand as a UKIP candidate? It is alleged he was Nigel Farage's election agent. If so that explains everything. UKIP rules can always be waived at Mr Farage's discretion. That is the unpublished rule zero in UKIP's rule book.

Then we come to the case of Bristol UKIP candidate, Phil Collins.

His views on immigrants have been widely reported in the South West press and have certainly caused some confusion. I quote below from the BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-21784481

For a fuller account click http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/ukip-reinstated-phil-collins

Phil Collins was barred from standing in this year's local elections in Bristol but has confirmed that he will now represent UKIP.
Mr Collins had said illegal immigrants should be detained in closed down prisons such as HMP Shepton Mallet.
UKIP has accepted these were Mr Collins' views and not those of UKIP.
'Very complex'
UKIP party chairman Steve Crowther apologised to Mr Collins.
Mr Crowther said: "Phil has been a loyal and hard-working servant of the party in Bristol. He made it clear that he was speaking in a personal capacity.
"We are fully committed to free speech and divergent opinions within our party. Phil was trying to make sense of a very complex situation to which there are no easy answers, but which concerns very many people in this country."
What a political genius Mr Crowther is! Watch out Nigel he's behind you as they say in the pantos.
I have never disagreed with official UKIP policy yet this same Mr Crowther who was quick to ban me standing. Again I suspect the Farage UKIP rule zero was invoked in my case but not Mr Collins.
Mr Collins is exactly the sort of UKIP candidate the BBC love to get on their live politics programes. He appeared yesterday in the West country edition of Sunday Politics. Click on
and skip the first half hour or so and get to the local bit where you can fully appreciate Mr Collins political skills and understand why he is now almost as popular with the BBC as Nigel Farage.

I will attend poor Audrey's funeral in Chard on Wednesday
along with many ordinary decent UKIP members from the South West branches.

EUKIP's huge and insurmountable problem is its ruling group and more importantly their hangers want to stay in the EU so they can get on the gravy train for their £1 million pay off. Who wants to be a millionaire without the difficult questions. No number of new members can change this before the next ladle of Euros is dished out in the so called Europeans to this cabal. Who will get the Euro gravy? Well certainly not ordinary UKIP members their function is to pay and pay and pay for the cabal's self defeating BBC approved campaigns. The selection of candidates is entirely in Farage's hands. The NEC will do as it is told by NF. Euro gravy is only doled out once every 5 years and May 2014 promises to be a whopper.

PS This is the Tory candidate for Sunderland. Has Dave been reading my blog?

South Shields Conservative candidate Karen Allen

Why do women voters not like Farage?

Audrey Spencer who was to be the UKIP candidate in the Somerset County Council elections sadly died last week leading to the postponement of the election and UKIP seeking a new candidate. I was approached to stand for UKIP and out of my regard for Audrey, agreed. I printed the forms off the Electoral Commission web site and set out to get my nomination papers completed. My wife was my proposer and I set off round my neighbours to get the required seconder and 8 assentors. All my neighbours knew I had stood for the District Council in 2009 for UKIP.  I approached five of my female neighbours all of whom asked if I were standing for UKIP again. I replied I probably was as it was a UKIP candidate who had died. They were all to varying degrees slightly unhappy some even mentioned they disliked  Farage from what they had seen of him on TV. I said I would see if I could stand as an independent and they all then signed my papers. As it turns out I cannot stand as an independent the closing date having passed for new nominations.

I did not  solicit these negative comments about Mr Farage. They were freely offered, but it did set me thinking  Farage pomotes himself as the bloke in the pub with a fag and a pint. Maybe this does not appeal to the ladies as much as to men. That is a big disadvantage for UKIP given over 50% of voters are women. UKIP's most successful by-election candidates over the past year have been women. This cannot be a coincidence and confirms my tiny sample findings. This is serious for UKIP's electoral prospects as their public image is Farage and his all male cronies. UKIP's two women MEPs Nikki and Marta have recently jumped ship enhancing the all male over 60 image of Bloom, Clarke, Agnew, Legge etc.

UKIP clearly needs more ladies in the Ms James mold but how to get them? This is an urgent problem and requires desperate measures. Mrs Thatcher won all three elections on the women's vote. That is why Tony Blair went down the all women short list route. Its not something I like but it worked for Maggie and Tony so UKIP must follow this strategy if they wish to pose a credible electoral threat to LibLabCon. Leave Farage to puff his fags and sink his pints but if you want to get out of the EU start recruiting some presentable intelligent women now.

Where do you find them at such short notice? It has to be from the ranks of the Tories. Again it has its dangers but the pay off would be huge. Nadine Dorries must be approached asap. I would suggest Stuart Wheeler and his glamorous daughter and possibly Lady Pearson are the right people to do the approaching. Nads will know other disillusioned Tory ladies sympathetic to UKIP. The younger ones will be in Tory Central Office. Back this up with all women Euro slates in 50% of the regions and you will get some great candidates. The time to act is now! There are a lot of Tory ladies worried about their future.

Run this approach onto the 2015 General Election and you could easily get a handful of UKIP MPs UKIP MPs. Its a pragmatic strategy, the kind that worked for the Greens in Brighton.

What about NF? The sooner he stands as leader down in favour of Mrs James the better UKIP's results will be. UKIP under Farage is limited to less than 50% of the vote. Under Mrs James it can harvest the full field. Five to ten UKIP MPs will be enough to get Nigel's bum on the red leather and more invites onto chat shows than he can ever fulfil. He can be UKIP's answer to my neighbour Paddy Pantsdown.

If allowed I will stand for UKIP in Somerset for Audrey's memory. UKIP SouthWest region is stuffed with a whole village of male idiots so I confidently expect I will be barred. Its crazy given there are many South West seat going uncontested and UKIP are trailing 4th behind the LibDems in terms of numbers of candidates. Watch this space.

SNP, the EU and Thatcher

I switched on Radio 4 this morning to hear the Lord's Establishment are demanding Alex Salmond's government and Cameron's provide the voters with more information on the economic consequences of Scotland leaving the UK lest the Scottish voters 'sleepwalk' into leaving the union. Quite. But are we to get this same information on leaving the EU? I doubt it. To my mind the economic arguments have so many points on either side they can never be conclusive. Its a pure political decision in the end. For the Scots do you want to be ruled by the English political elite from London and for the Brits do you want to be ruled by the European political elite from Brussels.

We still need  to have a proper independent cost benefit analysis on both issues to clarify the issues involved in both decisions. I am sure we will see something along these lines rushed out for the Scottish vote. You won't be given even a vote on the EU issue. That is the way our elite dictators operate to politically emasculate the British people.

There has been a very pro Thatcher press in club med land. They see they are in the same pickle we were in in 1979, a bloated state sector, over powerful unions, uncompetitive industry. Even Berlusconni has been fulsome in his praise of Maggie. But where is Euroland's Maggie? The Doctor Frau says I'm alright Fritz whilst France's Michael Foot goes on increasing state spending. Bunga bunga man may be their only hope. At least he knows how to party!

Margaret Thatcher

I was only in her company her twice. Once in late summer 1970 when newly appointed by Heath as Minster for Education she visited her old tutor Dorothy Hodgkin who was my DPhil supervisor. The second time was at Dorothy's memorial service when strange to many people she was not asked to give the eulogy although Dorothy taught her for 4 years. They remained in touch over the years. Dorothy was as far to the left as Maggie was to the right so Max Perutz an refugee Austrian Jew and like Dorothy a Nobel laureate gave the eulogy. Max was a lovely man. He said I am just a mongrel mid European Jew but Dorothy was pure middle England for many generations. The same was true of Margaret Hilda Roberts. She was pure middle England from the same geographical area as Dorothy and that other great English scientist Isaac Newton.

She was the first woman to be PM  but as important she was the first and only science graduate to become PM. When I was in the Civil Service she was a well regarded minister not something you could say of much of Heath's government.  (Curiously Heath had been in the house I shared the previous summer to see his god son whom I shared with.) Heath not only got us in to the Common Market in 72/73 without the consent of the British people but got the country into such a mess, 3 day week and black outs  that he ushered in 5 plus further years of disastrous Labour rule so that when Thatcher won in 1979 the country was widely regarded as ungovernable.

It was her great achievement to break the power of the unions and return the country to the rule of law. She also brought back prosperity by ignoring the views of the UK economic establishment and doing the exact but common sense opposite to their views. We should remember this today.

She was also a great war time leader and without her we would have lost the Falklands and our standing in the world. I regard her as a better PM than Churchill.

She was the longest serving PM of modern times, 12 years straight. I used to work with the dept of Geriatric medicine at Liverpool. One of the standard questions to determine if you were gaga was, "Who is the prime minister". It had to be dropped as Maggie  had been PM so long all the patients gaga or not got it right.

I was appalled today by the BBC's coverage of her life concentrating on her dotage and left wing critics. She was our greatest PM but they had to snipe at her even when she was dead. It shows just how nasty the so called liberal elite are.

She was a very great lady and we shall not see her like again.

Farage changes his colours

Today's Sunday Telegraph has a two page spread entitled, "Farage lives the dream as UKIP enjoys  'Heineken effect'". This refers to UKIP reaching the voters other parties cannot reach. I hope this is true and that UKIP membership is booming as the sycophants claim. I and many others take UKIP claims on membership numbers with a pinch of salt but surely UKIP numbers must be increasing post Eastleigh and Mrs James.  This can only be a good thing for our cause and UKIP localism. The most encouraging thing I have seen in UKIP was the selection by the local party of Mrs James as the UKIP Eastleigh candidate. UKIP needs much more of this and its a great pity that they voted through the Farage negative reforms which stops local parties doing this for the Europeans and puts candidate selection entirely in Farage's hands. NF has to realise the foot soldiers will work much harder and better for a local candidate they have  chosen rather than having the Andreasens and Bannermans manipulated onto the slate.

The most interesting things in the S Telegraph piece were the pictures see below of NF doing his favourite things.

They show a change of image from the city slicker pin stripe suit to the Tory knight of the shires, sage green jacket to appeal to his country audience. Its the colour favoured by old Tories like former UKIP leader Roger Knapman. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but in this case Mr Knapman might not agree. Its a bit double edged as it identifies him to the public with the knights of the shires which I don't think is helpful when you are trying to differentiate UKIP from the Tories but anything that gets him away from the City spiv/banker image is great. Overall it's a net positive I should say.

The other pictures in the piece illustrate the problem. One, not on the internet version, shows him being introduced on the platform by a decent looking man wearing exactly the same sage colour and jacket type as NF. A wannabe MEP possibly? NF likes that sort of flattery. It worked for Nuttall who dressed excatly like Nigel for press photos.

The pic below however shows the problem.

Three middle aged men but only one presentable woman and no black faces. The technique UKIP have to master is doughnuting. Watch Cam, Cleggy and Milliband's photo shoots. They are always shown surrounded by young good looking people with a majority of women and non-whites. They even do the same in the House of Commons where young photogenic females are rapidly shuffled into shot and a blackj face is always visible. Older white males banished to the back banches. It has unpleasant overtones but it creates the right impression with Joe Public  and gets votes which is all that matters.

Its overall a very favourable piece for UKIP and well worth reading in full click link.

Farage however showed his true colours in one telling quote,

“A first MP would be an important moment, of course - although frankly it hasn’t done much for the Green Party or Respect,”

That lets the cat out of the bag. A win for Diane James in Eastleigh would have been a personal disaster for Farage. Think what it would do for UKIP to have an MP asking questions at PMQs, interviewed on College Green by the media, regular appearances on the Daily Politics. But it would not have been Nigel!  He could not take that nor would he survive as party leader over the water. A bit like Bonnie Prince Charlie who wasted the rest of his life away in Rome, he would die politically in the pubs of Brussels. In the long run this would be good for our cause as it would return our efforts to the Westminster parliament which is the only body that by repealing the 1973 ECM act can get us out of the EU Act can get us out of the EU.

Nigel Farage is an EU puppet bought and controlled with Brussel's Euros. I sometimes think that he does not realise this himself. Its a great pity. He has great talents and energy but also great weaknesses. Advancing tired old Tories like the Hamiltons may be comfortable for Nigel but can never appeal to those who have never voted. Diane James did that. Christine Hamilton never can.

Tory moles multiply in UKIP

I was voted onto UKIP's NEC by ordinary UKIP members and voted off by Farage's sycophants acting on Farage's instructions using a dodgy dossier prepared by Tory mole Bannerman who has now admitted his devotion to David Cameron. The sycophants always lie that I left the NEC. I did not. Neither did David Abbott. We were both voted off by the sycophants orchestrated by the biggest Tory mole of them all. Del Young was kicked out of UKIP by Nuttall on an allegation which was a complete lie but as with Joe Stalin that is enough in EUKIP.

Farage was always very quick to smear any dissenters with the allegation they were BNP moles. This was an easy line for the sycophants to chant but it also served another purpose nobody looked for the real moles, the Tory moles. UKIP's membership is picking new recruits but who are these new members and which parties were they in before they joined UKIP? The answer is the Tories. My local UKIP contacts tell me they are now being swamped by ex-Tory pond life who all want to be UKIP candidates. What better time to infiltrate UKIP than now. The Tory moles can hide amongst the genuine just like the Russians planted their agents amongst many genuine refugees.

It has been obvious for over five years that Farage was bending over backwards not to damage the Tories. His stooge Pearson when party leader even tried to get UKIP candidates in the South West to stand down in favour of dodgy Tories. Now does that not sound like what a Tory mole would do? By the way where is Pearson now?

But what of Eastleigh you say? Who picked Mrs James as candidate? Not Nigel Farage. It was the local party after hearing her speak who chose her as candidate. Who has been less than complimentary about Mrs James? Mr Farage's close friend Annabelle Fuller. I expect the campaign to undermine Mrs James to continue not by Mr Farage of course but by his rent a mob sycophants. Nigel knows Mrs James cannot be touched for the time being. He will wait until the new Tory moles get bedded in,

What of Farage's falling out with Cameron. There is a hidden agenda there. Cameron has something Farage wants and has been told by Dave to piss off.

On the electoral front Junius reports that one Martin Heale a former NF branch chairman and candidate will stand as a UKIP candidate in the May elections. I understood that the NF was a UKIP proscribed organisation so Heale should not be allowed to even be a UKIP member let alone a candidate. But then of course Heale has the F factor. He was Farage's former election agent! In EUKIP Nigel can waive the rules when he wants to knowing his placemen sycophants on the NEC will wave through anything he wants. But in the wider media its impossible to masquerade as the scourge of the BNP while having a former member of the NF as a UKIP candidate.

This cannot go on. Mr Gill another possible Tory mole waived through Andreasen's candidacy in 2009 in contravention of 6 UKIP and UK electoral rules. Andreasen has now gone off to join the Tories but she want her revenge on Farage and she is not a woman to cross. She will have her revenge in this world or the next. Journalists love to find inconsistencies in party policies and actions. EUKIP is a mass of such inconsistencies. I grieve for the many decent ordinary UKIP members who have been hounded out of UKIP by the sycophants whilst people like Neil Hamilton flourish. I am sure that in the fulness of time he will, like Bannerman, feel the need to rejoin the Tories.

UKIP, Farage and Moroccan taxis

This all happened around 5 years ago. In the intervening period a whole new generation of UKIP activists and wannabee candidates have joined UKIP. It is for those newcomers like Mrs James that I write. Why? It is the same cabal that runs UKIP today that was running UKIP 5 years ago. We are also in the same period in the European MEP electoral cycle now as were 5 years ago when I participated in the process in the SW region.

UKIP members who wished to go on the 2009 SW MEP slate were interviewed by a small sub committee of 3 all of whose members were fanatical Farage supporters especially the late Malcolm Wood who was the SW RO. They drew up a short list of 10 candidates who participated in four hustings organised by Wood and spread across the region. (Wood also organised speaking engagements at the biggest branches for William Legge alone.) The members then voted on a ranked vote system  ending with Trevor Colman first and Legge second. Really very democratic compared to what will happen in 2014 when candidates will be chosen at the last minute solely by Mr Farage

As part of the short listing process we all had a recorded TV tough media interview with Clive Page UKIP's then press officer Clive Page. I well remember mine. Clive pulled an old trick at the start stating UKIP were the fourth and smallest UK party. I picked Clive up on that pointing out that in the previous 2004 Europeans UKIP had come third polling more votes than the LibDems! Afterwards Clive told me it was only me and Farage who had picked up his little journalistic trick. Did not say much for how clued up the rest were!

All these interviews were stored on Annabelle Fuller's laptop computer so Farage could see how possible candidates had performed in a simulated media interview. There was no other copy of these interviews. These interviews were to be totally confidential for this use only.

An Eastern region activist, John West, had done one of these interviews which was held on Fuller's laptop. West was shocked to find his interview had been posted on Facebook with the horrible head line, "How not to do politics". This was public for all to see and obviously designed to humilate and ridicule John West.  An investigation traced the posting of this interview to Morroco. Ms Fuller likes to holiday in Morocco.

Del Young, David Abbott and I then on the NEC were detemined to get to the bottom of this. We were not able to interview Ms Fuller which is what we wanted to do but we were given the foolowing taxi tale. Ms Fuller claimed she had left her Laptop in a London taxi. It had been missing for two days. Then Ms Fuller claims it was returned to her London address by the taxi driver who had discovered her address by looking at files stored on the Laptop so he must have posted West's confidential interview on the web.

I thought it was a cock and bull story. Whittaker, then UKIP chairman, would not take it further but did tell Del Young that Ms Fuller would no longer be allowed to be involved with UKIP.

Fast forward 5years and who was very visible at Eastleigh but Annabelle Fuller. Junius has recently published some emails that seem to show Ms Fuller is not over enamoured of Mrs James.

The unanswered question is why John West's interview out of the 100 plus interviews done was selected for public consumption?  John was a popular and very active in the Eastern region just like Mrs James is today in the Southern region.

Plus ca change plus c'est la meme chose, Mrs James. Tread carefully. I opine there never was a Morrocan taxi driver and as London cabbies are required to hand in all property left in their taxi to the police within 24 hours there is a missing 24 hours so I am unconvinced there was even a London cabbie.

I have no doubt UKIP will do very well in the 2014 European possibly even come top of the poll. What concerns me is who these MEPs will be.  Andreasen and Bannerman were Farage approved candidates. I predict that there will be more A & Bs who will gain the Fuerher's blessing with the same results. This will be a continuous drain on UKIP that eventually in the inevitable tight election or referendum to leave the EU may prove fatal to our cause.

Cyprus finance minister resigns after bailout concludes: investigation starts

This is the title of Reuter's report on Michael Sarris, a lead player in talks with International Monetary Fund and European Union lenders, said he had completed his task but also that he was likely to come under scrutiny in an investigation into the crisis. He must be hugely unpopular in Cyprus and proably fears for his safety. He orchestrated the loss of 60% of bank deposits over 100000€ much of which must have been owned by the Russian mafia, bad people to cross.

He tried to sell Cyprus gas exploration rights in Moscow to Gazprom, Putin's gas company, but was rejected. I expect he will try and go to ground in some 'safe' country. He may not succeed.

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades, in the job for a little over a month, appointed judges on Tuesday to investigate possible political and regulatory failures in the island's economic demise, as well as the role of banks. I doubt if anyone will be held accountable.

A company, Popular,  has been reported as making the following transactions in the run up to the crisis.  A list of business which had moved money out of Popular in the run up to the bailout deal included a company in Limassol, whose owners are related to Anastasiades by marriage.

The list, produced in the Communist party newspaper Haravghi on Sunday and reproduced by other media, said the company, A. Loutsios and Sons, had moved some 21 million euros (17.8 million pounds) out of the bank.

The company said it had moved 10.5 million euros to Barclays Bank Plc in Britain, and the remaining amount to Bank of Cyprus in order to complete real estate transactions.
That's the way the money goes!

Cypriot Archbishop shows up Justin Oilwell

Chrystomos II has just shown the Most Rev Justin Oilwell how to influence governments. He has called for the Cypriot central bank governor and the finance minister to resign for selling Cypriot banks out to the Huns. Would that Cantuar would do the same and defend our island from the Franco Prussian empire.

Chrystomos also offered all the wealth of his church to try and save his country. Justin Oilwell's church is obscenely rich. It owns a huge amount of land that could be used to build houses on for the poor he is always wittering on abou. He should take a lesson from Chrystomos and put his church's money where he flaunts his piety.

Justion Oilwell has followed the example of the Cypriot president  Anastasiades who in mid March stashed his 20bn Euros in London. All politicians do this even Farage who stashes his fage papers in the Isle of Man well away from Gideon's clutches.

The Cyprus bezzle is now emerging and is documented in Richard North's blog, http://www.eureferendum.com/

It is a sorry tale of graft and corruption. More important is the US press is wakening up to the incompetence and structural weakness of the EU. This will transmit to its currency, the Euro and hasten its demise. Thos will be a shot in the arm for the whole of Europe including the UK. Remember what happened when we got booted out of the ERM by the perfidious EU.

Richard finishes with a prophetic line I endorse. Things are quiet in Cyprus for the time being but it could easily explode into street protest any time particularly if the Orthodox church supports the protests. I seem to recall an Archbishop Makarios who gave the Brits a lesson in the 50s!
